Websites for tradesmen

A good website for a tradesman does three things fast: it shows what you do and where, proves you are trustworthy, and makes calling, messaging or asking for a quote one tap away on a phone. Drivn builds sites for UK trades around exactly that, with a page per service and clear service areas.

What do customers look for on a tradesman's website?

Most people looking for a trade are on a phone, often with a problem that needs sorting. They open two or three sites from the search results and decide within seconds. They are checking a few specific things:

  • Do you do the job they need? Not "all aspects of building work", but the actual service, named plainly.
  • Do you cover their area? Towns and postcodes, not just a county.
  • Can they trust you? Real photos of your work, reviews, accreditations you genuinely hold, and a named person behind the business.
  • How do they get hold of you? A phone number or WhatsApp button they can tap without scrolling, and a short quote form for anyone who would rather not call.

If your site makes any of those hard to find, the visitor goes back to the results and tries the next one. You never see that lost enquiry.

Why does each service need its own page?

Because people search for the specific job, not your trade in general. Someone searching for "boiler service" and someone searching for "bathroom fitting" want different answers. A page for each service, with its own title, description and details, gives search engines and AI tools a clear match for each search, and gives the visitor exactly what they came for.

It also gives you somewhere to put the detail that wins the job: what the work involves, roughly how long it takes, and photos of ones you have done.

How does a tradesman's website get found locally?

Local results depend on your website and your Google Business Profile working together. The website states your services and areas clearly, with structured data that spells them out for search engines. The profile carries your reviews, photos and map listing. When the two agree, you give Google every reason to show you. Our Google Business Profile checklist covers the profile side step by step.

Nobody can promise a position in the map results. What a good site does is remove the reasons you would be left out.

What does it cost and how long does it take?

Most single-site builds take two to four weeks from the first call to launch. Cost depends on the number of pages, who writes the content and the features you need, so we quote each job individually. Our guide to what a trade website costs explains what drives the price, and you can get a tailored quote in a few minutes.

FAQ

Common questions

Do I need a website if I already get work from word of mouth?

Often, yes. Even recommended customers usually look you up before they call. A clear, professional site backs up the recommendation, and a missing or broken one can quietly lose you the job.

Can you build pages for each town I cover?

Only where there is something real to say about the work you do there. One clear areas page that names every town you cover is better than a stack of near-identical town pages, which search engines treat as low quality.

Will I be able to add photos of new jobs myself?

We will agree how updates work before the build starts. Some clients prefer to send photos over and have us add them; others want to do it themselves. Either way it is set out up front.

Can you rebuild my existing website?

Yes. Rebuilding an outdated or slow site is normal work for us. We carry across what is worth keeping and redirect old page addresses so you do not lose the search visibility you already have.

Do I own the website once it's built?

Yes. The code, domain and content are yours. Monthly hosting and support run on a rolling basis with 30 days' notice, and you can take the site elsewhere whenever you like.

Can the site show my Gas Safe, NICEIC or other registrations?

Yes, any registration or membership you genuinely hold, ideally with a link so customers can check it on the scheme's own site. We never add badges for schemes a business isn't part of.
