Google Business Profile optimisation for local businesses in the UK
When someone searches "electrician near me" or "roofer in Leicester", Google usually shows a map with a handful of local businesses before any normal results. Those come from Google Business Profiles. For a lot of local service businesses, that listing is where the first call comes from, before anyone ever opens a website.
Drivn sets up, fixes and looks after Google Business Profiles for UK trades, hospitality and local service businesses: the right categories and services, a clear service area, real photos, details that match your website exactly, and a simple routine for getting and answering genuine reviews. If your profile has been suspended or is stuck in verification, I'll work through that with you too.

Who this Google Business Profile service is for
Trades and home services
Plumbers, electricians, roofers, builders and anyone whose customers search for a local provider and call whoever looks most trustworthy on the map.
Hospitality businesses
Lodges, hotels, B&Bs and cafés whose guests find them through Google Maps, look at the photos and reviews, and decide from there.
Businesses that set it up once and left it
A half-filled profile with the wrong category, no photos and unanswered reviews is common, and it quietly costs calls.
Businesses with a suspended or stuck profile
Suspensions and verification problems are stressful and Google's process is confusing. Having someone who knows the steps helps.
Benefits
How a properly run Business Profile benefits your business
- 01
Show up where locals look first
The map results sit above the normal search results for most local searches. Being a clear, complete profile there puts you in front of people at the moment they're choosing.
- 02
More calls, straight from Google
Call, message, directions and website buttons sit right on the profile, so a customer can contact you without ever visiting a website.
- 03
The right categories
Your primary category is one of the strongest relevance signals a profile has. Getting it right, and adding the right secondary ones, decides which searches you're even eligible for.
- 04
Services Google can match
Listing your actual services, in the words customers use, helps Google connect your profile to more specific searches.
- 05
A service area that makes sense
Service-area businesses can hide their address and show the areas they cover instead. Set up properly, that keeps your home address private and your coverage clear.
- 06
Details that match everywhere
Your name, phone number and services should match your website and other listings exactly. Inconsistent details are a common, fixable reason profiles underperform, and they confuse AI tools too.
- 07
Photos that sell the job
Real photos of your work, your van, your team or your rooms do more than any description. They're often the deciding factor between two similar listings.
- 08
A review routine that runs itself
A short link and a simple habit for asking happy customers, so reviews keep arriving steadily instead of in random bursts.
- 09
Replies that build trust
People read how a business responds, especially to a bad review. Calm, professional replies often win more trust than a perfect score.
- 10
Kept fresh
Posts, updated hours, new photos and seasonal offers show both customers and Google that the business is active.
- 11
Feeds AI search too
AI tools like Google AI Overviews and ChatGPT draw on business listings when they recommend local providers. A complete, accurate profile is part of being recommended correctly.
- 12
Measured
The profile's own performance data shows calls, direction requests, website clicks and the searches you appeared for, so you can see what it's earning.

How it works
From first call to results, in 4 steps
- 1
Audit
I review your profile, your competitors on the map, and how your details line up with your website and other listings.
- 2
Fix
Categories, services, service area, description, photos and contact details are corrected and filled in properly.
- 3
Set up the review routine
You get a review link, a simple way to ask, and a plan for replying, so reviews keep arriving without you thinking about it.
- 4
Keep it active
As a one-off tidy-up, or ongoing: posts, photos, review replies and a short report on calls and clicks each month.
What to expect, honestly
- No one can guarantee a spot in the map results. Distance from the searcher is one of Google's three ranking factors, and nobody can change where your customers are standing.
- Suspensions are decided by Google. I can make sure the reinstatement request is complete and accurate, but I can't promise the outcome or the timing.
- Genuine negative reviews can't be removed just because you dislike them. Only reviews that break Google's policies can be reported, and Google decides on those.

FAQ
Common questions about google business profile
How long does it take to see a difference?
Fixing categories, services and details can make a difference within a few weeks, but it varies a lot by area and competition. Reviews and activity build over months. There's no fixed timeline, and be wary of anyone who promises one.
Can you fix a suspended Google Business Profile?
I can help you work out why it was likely suspended, correct anything that breaks Google's guidelines, and submit a complete reinstatement request with the right evidence. Google makes the final decision, so no one can honestly guarantee reinstatement.
Do I need a website as well?
Not to have a profile, but they work better together. Your website backs up what the profile says, gives Google more to understand about your services and areas, and gives customers somewhere to check you out before they call.
See website design →Can you get bad reviews removed?
Only if they break Google's policies, for example fake reviews, spam or conflicts of interest. Those can be reported, and Google decides. Genuine bad reviews stay, and a calm, professional reply usually does more good than the review does harm.
I work from home. Do I have to show my address?
No. If you visit customers rather than them coming to you, you can set your profile up as a service-area business, hide your address and show the areas you cover instead.
Is this a one-off job or monthly?
Either. Some businesses just need a proper set-up and tidy-up; others want it looked after each month. Ongoing management runs on a rolling basis with 30 days' notice, no fixed contract.
